With WordPress: the familiar building-block system

WordPress is suitable if you want to maintain content yourself regularly, for example for a blog or club site. In the control panel you install it on your address with a few clicks. With your own files: full control

If you have already built a homepage, for example with an editor or an HTML template, upload the files in the file manager of your control panel. The home page is called index.html or index.php and is located in the public_html web directory. Unpack ZIP archives directly in the browser. PHP 8.3 and MariaDB databases are available for dynamic pages.

Checklist before publishing

• Legal: Check whether you need an imprint and a privacy policy. For business websites in Germany, an imprint is mandatory.
• Smartphone: Open each page on your phone. Menus, forms, and buttons must work without sideways scrolling.
• Links and forms: Click all links and send a test inquiry via your contact form.
• Images: Reduce large photos before uploading. This saves web space and loads faster.
• Title and description: Give each page its own title and short description so search engines classify it correctly.
